Reward Your Dog For Recall

Do you work for free? Do you do anything really for free? Even in volunteering, you are receiving something of value for your heart and state of mind -- yes??

Pay the dang dawg! Every. Single.Time. For a very long time after you begin training.

Stop being stingy with Praise and Play. People are super quick to say "no", to get frustrated & impatient with the dog when he doesn't do something or when it's hard or the dog is not doing something they know how to do. Some of you even have a hard time just remembering to mark a skill "good" when your dog does it right.

When you're teaching something new and the dog "gets it" -- I want to see cheerleaders and pom pom style energy from you when you release them afterward.

Praise and Play at the end of any training round.
Build that dog up.

No matter how hard the training round was. "Who is the best puppy, who's so smart -- is it you? omgoodness you're awesome" as you really energize some affection, patting, gratitude, and joy with your dog.

Remember when practicing Recall Games you want initially pay your dog with food reward 100% of the time for puppies and new training -- incorporate the Praise and Play and soon the praise and play is all you need.

We can always wean off food reward -- but you should not stop paying your dog with your energy and appreciation.
