The Power of An On Off Switch

The Power Of An On-Off Switch.

Does your dog have one?

I’m working with a young pup who is headed for off-leash training. She’s a birder who loves the chase and nature.

Obedience has been going very well.

Today, we upped the ante on distractions and simulated natural instincts of the chase and capture in gameplay.

This dog lit up. Full Throttle. Turned On. Natural Instincts took over.

When the game ended, she was still amped and intent on resuming the game. She couldn't easily resume her obedience work. She was still focused on where the toy went.

Games need rules. Starts, Boundaries, Control, and full stops.

It's very important to tap into instinct. To have engagement and enrichment games with YOU. But you need to be able to hit a full stop and get back to work. To stop the arousal, to stop the flood of cortisol & adrenalin, etc.

This comes with practice.

Do it. It strengthens your relationship & your obedience....

And your FREEDOM
